25 injured in bus accident

At least 25 passengers sustained injuries in a bus accident at Gaindakot municipality-14, Amarapuri of Nawalparasi along the East-West Highway at 2.00 this morning. According to Ramesh Thapa, Superintendant of Police (SP) at District Police Office, Nawalparasi-east, the Kathmandu-bound bus (Na 6 Kha 3973) from Dang turned over after losing its control. Three among the injured are critical, Thapa informed. Bir Hospital starts outpatient services in Bhaktapur

Bir Hospital, the country’s oldest hospital, has begun providing out-patient services from Duwakot, Bhaktapur. As many as 15 patients were provided general health check-up services on the first day on Wednesday. According to Bir Hospital’s Director Dr Bhupendra Basnet, a team of doctors, along with deputy mayor of Changunarayan Municipality, inaugurated the outpatient services. The hospital has been constructing a new building on 570 ropanis of land it owns in Duwakot. As Nepal carries out its first National Mental Health Survey, some 2.2 million Nepalis, aged between 16 - 40 years, are estimated to suffer from mental health issues and the cases are rising among children, psychiatrists have warned. Oct 8: Kanchanpur is reeling under a high risk of malaria due to open border with India. Number of patients entering into the country with malaria epidemic from India is on the rise every year. Number of people infected by malaria which is transmitted from mosquito bite has reached 22 during the past three months in Kanchanpur. Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange
The fourth iteration of Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange, which is held routinely by the Nepal Army and the US Army Pacific, kicked off in Kathmandu on Tuesday. More than 300 people, including security personnel, Red Cross workers and government agencies from 14 countries, are participating in the four-day drill. The exercise that kicked off on Tuesday focuses on civil military coordination in disaster response, mass casualty simulation, search and rescue and camp management and coordination. As many as 32 people were injured after a passenger carrying bus met with an accident at Kusunde in Madhyabindu Municipality-11, Nawalparasi last night. The bus (Na 6 Kha 928) en route to Dang from Kathmandu fell some 50 meters off the road after colliding with a truck bearing Indian number plate. According to Jamuna thapa, health coordinator of Madhyabindu Municipality 15 persons with minor injuries have been discharged from Manakamana Polyclinic, Arungkhola and rest are being treated at College of Medical Science Chitwan.
