Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) Handover, Surkhet
The national Health Emergency Operations Center has proven its usefulness during the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Building further on that model, WHO has established Regional Health Emergency Operations Centers (RHEOC). On 20 November 2017, the RHEOC in Surkhet was handed over in Surkhet was handed over by WHO/Nepal to the Mid-Western Regional Health Directorate. The RHEOC is equipped with the latest technologies and items required for emergency response coordination and communication

Several speakers, including Dr Bikash Devkota (Chief, Hospital Administrator (Joint Secretary) MOH) and Mr Damodar Adhikari, (NPO –WHO) highlighted the importance of HEOC s. Ms. Rita Bhandari Joshi, Regional Health Director (RHD), Mid-western Regional Health Directorate thanked WHO for providing HEOC. She also highlighted the importance of multi-sector coordination and also requested to the health sector partners to allocate the financial resources for preparedness activities.
